TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - If you bored with Bali or Lombok, Indonesia provides many other beautiful places that you can discover to escape your daily routines.

The following, according to travel agent Pegipegi, are five great destinations in Indonesia that you can visit to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

1. Pulo Cinta, Gorontalo

There is a romantic legend behind the origin of the island that is shaped like a heart. The legend says that Pulo Cinta (literally means Love Island) is the secret hiding place for the Prince of Gorontalo and beautiful Dutch merchant to spent time together. The island had become the witness of their forbidden love since they were from two different parties that were against each other.

In this island, you can enjoy white sands, the beauty of the clear skies filled with sparkling stars, or dive into the clear waters to enjoy the Salvador Dali coral reef.

2. Rammang-Rammang, South Sulawesi

Rammang-Rammang is a place in the 45 hectares karst mountain in Maros-Pangkep, 40 kilometers from Makassar City.

According to the local language, Rammang-Rammang means “clouds” or “mist”. It gets the name since the place often gets misty in the morning.

You can also find a pre-historic cave that used to be the place to live of pre-historic man.

3. Labengki Island, Southeast Sulawesi

Labengki Island is located in North Konawe, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. It is often considered as the miniature of Raja Ampat, Papua. Labengki Island has a gorgeous marine life you cannot possibly forget as well as the beautiful Labengki’s Love Bay.

4. Seram Island, Maluku

Seram Island is literally translated as ‘scary island’, yet, it is blessed with an outstandingly beautiful scenery of its nature that includes Ora Beach. It can be considered as Indonesia’s Maldives.

5. Lhok Mee Beach, Aceh Besar

The beach is located at LamrehVillage, Aceh Besar, around 40 kilometers from the City of Banda Aceh. Its coastal area is filled with rows of tree locally known as geurumbang; a large tree that has dry branches with towering mangrove roots. Due to the unique shape, you can sit on the branches of the tree while fishing.
