On the sidelines of the Yaahowu Party in Teluk Dalam, South Nias on Sunday, South Nias community leader Irian Dachi said there are at least four locations that could be used for surfing.
The first location is Sorake beach in Luaha Gundre Maniamolo district and has wave heights ranging from 3-4 meters. Surfing has often bee done in the beach but recently the number of surfers has decreased.
"Maybe because of the height the waves depends on wind conditions," he said.
However, he said wave heights in three other areas are believed to be very challenging for surfing mania because it can reach 8-9 meters.
According to him, the three locations are beached located in Pulau Batu, Pulau Batu Barat, and Pulau Batu Utara districts.
Irian added that one of the problems faced in the development of tourism potential in the three locations is inadequate supporting infrastructure support due to budget limitations of South Nias regency government.
