LoreLindu National Park Develops 2 Sites to Attract More Visitors

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Lore Lindu National Park (TNLL), which is located in the protected area of Central Sulawesi, is now developing two of their existing tourism sites. Acting Head of TNLL, Bustang, in Palu, on Tuesday August 30th 2016, said that the two mentioned sites are the breeding ground for Maleo birds (Macrocephalon maleo) and the Tambing Lake.

The Maleo birds breeding ground, in which they are an endemic in Sulawesi island, located at Saluki Hamlet, Gumbasa, Sigi, and the Tambing Lake located at Sedoa Hamlet, North Lore, Poso. Bustang said that the development of those two sites, in these last three years, were prioritized so they can attract more visitors, especially foreigners.

Many facilities in those two sites are under intense development starting from access roads to electricity supply, clean water, and resorts for the visitors.

Bustang explained that in the last year, the Maleo birds breeding ground and the Tambing Lake sites see a surge in visitors compared to last years. The visits increased around 300 people, in which compared to the previous visits of around 80 people, respectively. The visitors were mainly college students and scientists from abroad.

Great interest were shown by the visitors in the Maleo birds breeding ground, and also at Tambing Lake, where they would observe the endemic and rare birds surrounding the sites.
