TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sunny Tanuwidjaja has often named as a confidant of Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama after being mentioned by Mohamad Taufik, Deputy Speaker of the Jakarta Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Taufik said that Sunny was the one who facilitate a meeting between Mohamad Sanusi former Chief of Commission D of the Jakarta DPRD and President Director of PT Agung Podomoro Land Ariesman Widjaja.
Sunny, Sanusi, and Ariesman are currently being investigated for the suspected bribery cases in the Jakarta Bay reclamation project.
Sunny admitted that Ahok always took him to meet with politician or businessmen. Sunny claimed that Ahok often asks for his opinion in certain matters.
"[Ahok take me] to witness every meeting. Most politicians and businessmen talk about politics. When they talk about politics [Ahok] took me along so I can give him inputs," Sunny said on Monday, April 11, 2016.
Sunny said that politicians or businessmen often contact him to deliver information intended for Ahok. Sunny added that there are times when politicians and businessmen deliver the information directly to Ahok.
Sunny however, denied the allegations that he has special connections with Ahok and refused to be mentioned as Ahok's political advisor. Sunny claimed that is merely helping Ahok while working on his dissertation.
In addition, Sunny often organizes Ahok's meeting with businessmen or other parties. "Not all of them come through me, sometimes they go to other staff. But sometimes I do organize [meetings]," Sunny said.
