TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flood hits four villages in Tanjungsari Village, Sukaresik Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya District, West Java, at 4:30am, on Thursday, Mar 17. The flood is due to a levee burst of Cikidang River.
Before the levee bursted, continous heavy rain occurred in the region. “A temporary report mentioned four villages have been submerged,” Tasikmalaya Regional Disaster Management Agency Chief of Kundang Sodikin said Thursday.
Water level in each villages vary. Bojong Soban Village reaches 2 meters. “But last year’s flood was worst,” said Kundang.
Kundang said that 600 households must be evacuated to a safe location. “Some of them are taken to higher settlement and pesantren (Islamic boarding school).”
A resident were injured after falling off a roof. The victim’s name is Ali Teti, who were immediately rushed to Sukaresik health center to receive treatment.
