TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Rustam Effendi, the governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, said that President Joko Widodo is scheduled to be in Tanjung Kelayang, Belitung regency on March 9 to observe the total solar eclipse.
"President Joko Widodo is scheduled to be here in Belitung to watch the solar eclipse," Rustam said in Pangkalpinang, Wednesday, February 24.
Rustam said it is an honor for the people of Belitung to be able to watch the eclipse together with the head of state.
A total solar eclipse is expected to last for 2 minutes and 10 seconds, viewable from Bangka Island on 6:00 am and Belitung Island on 6:21 am, local time.
The governor said Belitung is making the necessary preparations to ensure that the solar eclipse viewing event goes well.
