TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia's furniture export value has reached more than US$2 billion. The figure is above the industry's target for this year, which was set at 10 percent of 2014's US$1.8 billion.
Lisman Sumardjani, executive director of the Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Industry Association (Asmindo), said the achievement was supported by an increasing demand from destination countries, particularly main markets like the US, Europe, Australia and Japan.
There is also a rising demand from non-traditional and secondary markets such as Morocco, Jordan, and South American nations.
Abdul Sobur, secretary general of the Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Association (Amkri), said that in the first half of 2015 there was a two-percent exports increase, year-on-year. The increase value is US$932 million.
