TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Transportation Ministry is building a train access to Minangkabau International Airport, Padang, West Sumatra. Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan said the railway will have routes from Padang station to Dukuh station, then straight to Minangkabau Airport.
Jonan targets the construction of the train will be completed next year. The train can operate by the end of 2016, Jonan said Monday, October 13.
The construction of the railway has no issue with land acquisition. Therefore, the development of mass transportation which uses the 2015 State-Budget Change will be completed on time. The development of this airport train is inline with President Joko Widodo’s expectation, that all airports are connected with various transportation modes.
Jokowi says the railway measuring 23 kilometers connects Minangkabau Airport with several stations in the city.
Later on, a sky bridge will connect Minangkabau International Airport station to the waiting room. From the station to the airport, PT Angkasa Pura II Minangkabau International Airport branch will prepare a sky bridge for its passengers.
Jonan has named PT Kereta Api Indonesia as the operator of the railway and said that ticket prices has yet been determined.
