TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo confirmed that he will reshuffle the working cabinet, upon speaking to former Head of Muhammadiyah Office, Syafii Maarif.
"I saw that he intends to do that," said Syafii on Monday, June 29. However, he refused to reveal which minister that Jokowi will release from duty.
Syafii added that cabinet reshuffle is a must, especially that during eight-month period, the current cabinet seems to give only few changes.
One of the most highlighted sectors is domestic commodity such as rubber, palm oil, and mining that undergo massive decrease. "They cost us our economy and trigger massive unemployment," he said.
Syafii said that selecting the right minister can help Jokowi carry on the tasks. He gave example of Maritime Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, regardless raging controversy. However, he claimed that it is not easy to pick ministers from outside political parties. "They will likely come from political party," he said.
