KPU Proposes Simultaneous Regional Head Elections on December

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner at the General Election Commission (KPU) Ida Budhiati proposed that the first batch of the regional election be held simultaneously on 9 December 2015.

"We have prepared the date but we still have to discuss it with the House of Representatives,” said Ida.

According to Ida, the planning to hold the first batch of regional elections simultaneously had been stipulated in the Draft of the KPU Law on Stages of Regional Leaders.

Based on the schedule, she said that the first batch of the regional laws would be held in 280 regions and would elect 204 regional leaders who tenure ends this year and 76 regional leaders who have entered the retirement period in the first quarter of 2016.

She also said that in the draft that has been formulated, the KPU sated that the establishment of regional election commission at the district level and in the polling stations would begin in April 2015.
