TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil said he would review the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI), saying that some solid programs covered by the plan would be followed up.
“Good policy will definitely be continued to avoid interrupted policy,” Sofyan said on Monday, October 27, 2014.
Sofyan said that for the next few days, the government would be neutral in perusing the master plan since it will review ex-president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s economic policy.
“If there are good programs that are not optimally run yet, we will strive to optimize them,” he said.
The MP3EI program was initiated to accelerate economic development and expansion, as well as to realize an equal level of prosperity across the country by focusing on demographic potential, natural resources and geographic locations. Among the regions targeted by the program are Bali, Lombok and Sumbawa.
One of the MP3EI Projects that sparked controversy is the reclamation of Benoa gulf as the Indonesian Forum for the Environment claimed the reclamation could harm the environment and people in Bali.
