TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammad Romahurmuziy, secretary general of the United Development Party (PPP) elaborated three vital blunders made by Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla causing it to be ineffectively established at the parliament.
“First, they don’t run under one command. It wasn’t clear whether Megawati, Jokowi or Jusuf Kalla responsible for the coalition formation” Romahurmuziy said on Friday, September 26, 2014.
Second, Romahurmuziy added, the delegations for communication between coalition parties were not specified.
“They didn’t specify who told what to whom,” he added.
The final blunder was related to political incentive. According to Romahurmuziy, Jokowi has yet offered any political incentives to this date, causing the formation of majority coalition to be almost impossible.
Romahurmuziy said Jokowi-JK could not build the majority coalition at the parliament, as President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono did in 2004.
“Although the Democratic Party was the fifth major coalition at the parliament; it could establish the majority coalition before the inauguration of the House of Representatives.
According to Romahurmuziy, the passing of regional election bill was Jokowi’s first defeat at the parliament since he could not build the majority coalition. He said that Jokowi’s inability to collect supports from political parties in a coalition could jeopardize the government stability for the next five years.
