TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has asked the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) to oversee the performance the units under his administration.
The supervision ranges from salary structure in the Tax Service Agency, the Jakarta Inspectorate, the Jakarta Financial Management Body and the Jakarta Employment Agency. “Not only the officials, but also the staff,” said Ahok on Monday.
Ahok said those four units were chosen given their paramount roles in the Jakarta administration. Ahok also plans to team with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre and the Corruption Eradication Commission to monitor transactions of employees and their families.
Ahok said analysis of family transactions would be one of the main considerations for a promotion as it helped detect civil servants who had integrity. “We only need people who want to work and are honest to us,” he said.
ICW vice coordinator Agus Sunaryanto said he would meet Ahok's request to foster transparency in Ahok’s government. “Ahok’s request is a challenge for us,” he said.
Jakarta Inspectorate chief Franky Mangatas Panjaitan appreciated the planned monitoring and said the Jakarta government needed an independent monitoring body for support.
Jakarta Goods and Services Procurement Unit chief I Gede Dewa Sony also said an independent body would increase the standards of objective assessment in his unit.
