TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State-owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, said that the Soekarno-Hatta Airport will serve 72 flights per hour starting from July this year. The plan to increase the number of flights was based on a comparative study conducted by airport management company Angkasa Pura II (AP II) and the Flight Navigation Firm (Perum Navigasi) at one of the busiest airport in the world, London's Heathrow Airport.
Dahlan explained that steps to be taken to improve the flight capacity include utilization of available facility. Airplanes will be required to use the second runway, as well as the first runway.
Dahlan said that Soekarno Hatta Airport is targeted to serve 92 flights per hour next year. To achieve the target, airport management can learn from Heathrow that can serve 100 flights by using two runways.
With the improvement, Dahlan would not force airlines to move their operation to Halim Perdana Kusuma.
