TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Terrorism expert from the International Crisis Group (ICG), Sidney Jones, said the bombing in Ekayana Buddhist Vihara in West Jakarta last night was still aimed at the police--the main target of act of terrorism in Indonesia.

"The main target is still the police," Sidney on Monday, August 5.

According to Sidney, acts of terrorism in Indonesia are not easy to map-out. Unlike around the time of the Bali bombing, today Indonesia has seen plenty of terrorist groups, large and small. This makes it difficult to correlate terrorist acts to just one issue, such as the attack on the vihara.

"There are dozens of groups now, so we cannot say that that the terror targets have shifted because there are other groups."

Sydney says that last night's bombing was committed by a small terrorist group. He suspects that the bombers are affiliated with the terrorist network in the Greater Jakarta area.

Sidney hopes that, ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the government will increase security measures in Jakarta's places of worship. He hopes that the police will find the Vihara bombers soon, and detangle its network. "I'm sure the Densus (Special Detachment) knows better about what to do."
