Jokowi Strikes Out 39 Sub-District Heads and 13 District Heads

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo has scratched out the names of 39 sub-district heads and 13 district heads, declaring them illegible in the selection process of the position auction he designed in effort to reform the city administration's bureaucracy.

Jokowi stated that he feels content with the open selection result. He said that the open selection will filter potential candidates after being undiscovered for many years due to the previously implemented closed selection system.

In addition, the Governor claimed that the result of the selection process will also serves as a database of qualified human resources. He continued that the database can be utilized by the city administration to fill in vacant governmental positions. However, he admitted that there are aspects of the selection process that must be improved.

Moreover, he mentioned that the selection went on in a transparent and accountable manner. As a result, earlier today, Jokowi inaugurated the selected 267 sub-district heads and 44 district heads at the city hall out of 952 initial candidates.
